On June 1, 2024, students from Class 212 of our virtual reality program won the first prize in the national finals of the 2024 Milan Design Week - China University Design Discipline Excellent Works Exhibition. The award-winning work "Dance of Solar Terms: Kandinsky's Abstract Rhythm and the Rhyme of Chinese Seasons" was created by four students, Lu Jingyi, Xu Yifeng, Wang Tao, and Zhou Hao, under the guidance of teacher Zhou Ruoxuan.
The Milan Design Week China Collegiate Design Competition&Exhibition, jointly initiated by the China Association for International Exchange in Education and the China Higher Education Association, aims to showcase the teaching achievements of design disciplines in China in the context of the new era and provide an international platform for art teachers and students across the country to showcase their professional talents. This competition has attracted participation from over a hundred universities across the country, including Tsinghua University and Beijing Union University, bringing together outstanding talents in the domestic design field.
The award-winning works showcase the unique rhythm of China's 24 solar terms through Kandinsky's abstract art style, aiming to spread Chinese intangible cultural heritage to international friends. The work cleverly integrates modern art and traditional culture, allowing the audience to experience the unique charm of Chinese traditional culture in an immersive way, and has received high praise from expert judges. The participating teams stated that this competition not only enhanced their professional skills in the field of virtual reality, but also stimulated their sense of mission towards innovative dissemination of intangible cultural heritage.
