On July 14, 2024, our virtual reality major student team won the first prize in the 16th National Elite League Finals of the 2023-2024 National 3D Digital Innovation Design Competition. Team members Huang Yuling, Feng Tanglong, Gao Yuexun Ke, Wang Kaiqiang, and Liao Longgang, guided by Professor Zhou Ruoxuan, received high praise from the judges for their work "Heroic Chronicles of Shadow Painting". This work innovatively tells the legendary deeds of historical heroes such as Qin Xianglian by integrating shadow puppetry, opera, and modern rap. It combines Chinese intangible cultural heritage culture with modern technology, leading the audience to travel through ancient and modern times and experience the charm of heroism and traditional culture.
The National 3D Digital Innovation Design Competition is guided by departments such as the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Ministry of Education, aiming to promote the integration of the digital economy and the real economy, and to facilitate the integration and innovation of industry and education. This competition has attracted teams from over 600 universities, showcasing their outstanding achievements in the field of digital innovation.
The team's award not only showcases the school's teaching achievements in the fields of virtual reality and digital art, but also explores and contributes to the inheritance and innovation of intangible cultural heritage. Team members expressed that through participating in the competition, not only did they enhance their professional skills, but they also gained a deeper understanding of the important role of intangible cultural heritage in digital art design and industry development.
