News from the Website (Article by Fan Yaxin / Photos by Bai Chenyang) On the afternoon of October 28, the School of Software Engineering held an anti-fraud knowledge publicity activity for 2025 freshmen in the Lecture Hall of the No.1 Teaching Building. The activity invited Wan Kefei, a police officer from Jiaoqiao Police Station of the Economic and Technological Development Zone Public Security Sub-bureau, as the keynote speaker, aiming to enhance freshmen's awareness of fraud prevention and anti-fraud, and protect students' property safety.

In the lecture, combining the current situation of telecom fraud and the necessity of publicity, Wan Kefei gave an in-depth explanation around the four major anti-fraud publicity directions: "Do not participate in telecom and network fraud, prevent being exploited by fraudsters, do not fall victim to telecom and network fraud, and do not tolerate telecom and network fraud", systematically expounding the hazards of telecom fraud and the importance of cultivating anti-fraud awareness. He focused on the types of telecom and network fraud that have been frequently occurring in colleges and universities recently, and analyzed the fraud routines through multiple real cases: In second-hand transaction fraud, fraudsters use "low-priced products" as bait to induce users to leave formal platforms and communicate via WeChat, then send fake platform payment links, and block users once the transfer is made; In logistics customer service fraud, fraudsters use the user's shopping and logistics information they have obtained, use "lost/damaged goods, ten-fold compensation" as a gimmick, and gradually demand fees such as "logistics security deposit"; In fraud impersonating public security, procuratorial and judicial organs, fraudsters obtain user information through fake platforms and then disguise themselves as case handlers to demand payment of "case handling security deposit"; Investment and financial management fraud attracts users with "small profits", and absconds with the money after users increase their investment; In addition, illegal-related fraud such as online prostitution solicitation and nude chat also often defrauds money by means of "security deposit" and "threatening to disclose privacy".

Wan Kefei emphasized that fraud gangs have certain technical capabilities, can create highly counterfeit links and pages, and will customize fraud thresholds according to users' consumption capacity and deposit status. He reminded freshmen that the core of anti-fraud publicity is to establish the concept of "proactive fraud identification": Do not be tempted by low prices, and always make payments through formal platforms; Do not trust unfamiliar customer service, and verify multiple parties when it involves "security deposit" or "compensation"; Do not be afraid of false threats, and directly block fraudsters in case of nude chat fraud, never transfer money; When facing suspicious information, ask "why" more often and consult the school security department or the police in a timely manner.

Through real cases and practical suggestions, this publicity activity helped 2025 freshmen deeply understand the common methods of telecom and network fraud, effectively improved students' awareness of fraud prevention and anti-fraud, and laid a solid foundation for building a safe campus.
