Net News（Text/Fan Yaxin;Photo/Liu Longchun; Wang Wenjie) On the evening of 29 April, a thematic lecture titled "Achieving the Finest Results for Contemporary Youth on the Track of Youth" was held in the Lecture Hall on the first floor of the Library and Information Building at Nanchang Campus. The event was jointly organised by the School of Software Engineering and the School of Energy and Mechanical Engineering. The lecture was chaired by Lan Xinhua, Deputy Party Secretary (acting) of the School of Software Engineering. Attendees included Communist Party members and Party membership applicants from both schools, who gathered to hear an engaging presentation by Professor Qu Jianwu from Dalian Maritime University.
Under the theme "Achieving the Finest Results for Contemporary Youth on the Track of Youth," Qu Jianwu drew upon his rich life experiences and authentic case studies to elucidate the value and significance of youth in an accessible manner. He emphasised that the four years of university are pivotal to one's life, urging students to clarify their life direction, fasten the first button of their life journey correctly, and strive forward on the track of youth with steadfast ideals and convictions. Qu Jianwu further invoked General Secretary Xi Jinping's exhortation, urging students to showcase youthful vigour on the new journey of the era and realise their life's worth through unremitting effort.
He shared inspiring stories of his students, including those from modest backgrounds who achieved success through relentless effort, urging students to cultivate sound values, draw inspiration from role models around them, and strive for self-improvement. With heartfelt emotion, he recounted his own academic and professional journey, encouraging students to cherish life and their homeland, treasure their university years, and use knowledge as wings to build a solid foundation for soaring into the future.
During the interactive session, students posed questions enthusiastically, to which Qu responded with patience and detail, fostering a vibrant atmosphere. Addressing how young university students might find their own development path, he advised cultivating resilience, embracing bold experimentation, and persevering through periods of stagnation or difficulty. Regarding graduate employment, he emphasised that career choice hinges not on positional prestige but on establishing sound professional ethics and life attitudes, urging students to pursue social contribution and public service. When discussing how contemporary students can cultivate core competitiveness, Qu emphasised the importance of holistic development, enhancing intellectual capacity and humanistic spirit. He argued that being guided by a sense of responsibility and aspiration is essential for standing out in future society.
At the conclusion of the lecture, Lan Xinhua once again expressed heartfelt gratitude to Qu Jianwu for his insightful sharing, which was met with resounding applause from the entire audience.
